Aetheri’s Song

(3 Ivastaen 5115: Ta’Illistim)

She closed her eyes and smiled to herself, finishing the song on the piece of paper. She swirled her quill at the bottom with her name, marking it complete. Holding the paper up she looked at it in wonder. It had taken but a few days to write, and she really liked it. It held her feelings; that alone was an accomplishment.

The key gave it layers of depth that made it intriguing, romantic, and never once even went near a place of melancholy.

She loved this piece, and was so pleased with it. The lyrics flowed into the tune as if they were born to it. The music poured out in a deceptively simple sounding melody over an intricate minor key chord progression. The harp was soft and full. The key gave it layers of depth that made it intriguing, romantic, and never once even went near a place of melancholy.

Now her nerves settled in over her. When should she sing it? Should she wait? What if he did not like it? What if it was too much? Too little? She should not have told him she was writing it, it would have been a complete surprise. But she could not help but tell him the other day.

She chuckled at herself. She would offer it to him when the time seemed right. No amount of planning was going to help these nerves, so she did not even try to plan anything.
