Lyin’ Eyes

(26 Charlotos 5116, Ta’Illistim)

[The writing looks shaky, and there are smears and stains where clear liquid has splashed.]

Dear Aetheri,

The incessant trouble in that mortal Empire, whatever they call it this year, seems to have yanked me into it. I may need someone to explain it all to me. It involves those awful Blameless who do so many terrible things in the name of the God King. A week ago, they captured a Blade of Ronan, Lord Redding. I believe him to be high ranking. Evidently he was tortured. And broken. Tonight, one of the many who are deceived by them (and seemingly brainwashed) a Lady of import from some Imperial place, came to the Landing with a device that enable people to view the so-called trial of Lord Redding.

I did not follow her. I did not want to witness anything as awful as I felt it could turn out. I went directly to the Shrine of Dreams, to pray and stand in vigil for the faithful Blade who was under threat.

Those who saw into this device tell me Redding spoke flatly and did not blink. The trial began by him confessing to betraying the Lord of Dreams and … well, everything that is holy, by hatching up plots in secret with Luukosians.

Before this mockery of truth was over, I heard Mister Aurach’s whispers in the wind for me to be on my guard. Then he then whispered again on the wind to me, saying,

“Redding has said at his trial,  ‘Among the Order of the Night’s Blade, I named Falvicar and Mohrgan as my highest operatives.  Their allies in our operations are Regwen, Katiesa, Eshielle, and Luxelle.  They have forged a second alliance with Luukosians in the north, named Hadya and Alisaire.'”

Hearing this, I stared in disbelief.

He then bade me be wary.

And so more, I prayed. For the release of this true hero’s mind from whatever fell influence cast upon it. I stayed at the Shrine through all of the rest of the terrors going on somewhere near the Demonwall by these Blameless tonight.

While I am unsure yet of Lord Redding’s fate, two faithful Hendoran soldiers with the holy light of moonlight shining upon their countenances were killed by a slavering mob while trying to take out this Chaston with eyes that glow in unnatural goldish light that seems to take all will and power from the One he uses them against.

Others have told me never to remain alone now, and some tell me to not go west at all. I did not tarry in the west, but came home right away, with no sign of trouble. Oh, Sweetheart, I am so sorry, I do not know what I did, or what to do. I am scared, and confused. And I miss you.

On the morrow I must pilgrimage to the mountain and see the nameless holy artifact there again. Should you come home while I am traveling, that is where I will be. I am sure it is safe there. In fact, Mister Aurach has shown some interest in it, and I may see if he wants to go with.

I am yours,
Until Eternity’s End
Luxie
