And the Dagger Sang – to Me!

(2 Jastatos 5114:  Wehnimer’s Landing)

Mother!

One of the people that Tanmayi introduced me to the other day was a Lord Bard. His name is Japhrimel. He stopped me in town tonight and asked me to sing for him. I’m not sure if it was an audition or what, but thankfully I had my new Lady of the Sands song ready. He is the one who gave me the beautiful flute I wrote about.

He talked to me about the history of the Landing, and tutored me with tips I will need for my career as a bard. Out of nowhere, he asked me to loresing. I was so nervous. I had only read about it, and the night before, had limited success loresinging to some rocks. Just before I used a song of purification on them and they blew up…

I tried to sidestep the task, but he would hear nothing of it, and handed me his very special family heirloom dagger. So I remembered everything I could, and sang a very simple, precise song to it.

And the dagger sang! To me!

Oh, but it had a dark and frightful past. Once I saw that, I handed it back to him immediately. The dagger seemed rather … hungry.

But it sang in answer to my simple song! It was all I could do to contain myself, I was so thrilled

Japhrimel seemed pleased. But this is not the end of the news.

I believe he is considering me as his apprentice! I hope to hear more of that soon.

I will write soon again, Mother, I am a bit homesick tonight, though, and must gather my thoughts before they consume me in dreams I can not bear.

Love,

~L.
