I Believe I Can Fly

(26 Olaesta 5115: Ta’Illistim)

The dream was a gift, a gift with her soft new lullabye playing in the background. More than a gift, it was a promise to the bardess.

She followed the azure butterfly into a swirling host of colorful butterflies all around her. She raised her arms to reach upwards with them in wonder. They swept under her arms and lifted her high, and somehow, she was soaring into the star-filled night sky.

She heard her own tune, and hummed along with it as the soft melody wrapped around her and the chord progression led her through. She closed her eyes. Her heart knew no cares, her shoulders no burdens.

The lyrics came to her without effort. As she sang the last line of the first verse she wondered if she dared to sing those words.

“You will, do not fear. This is my promise. It’s always been my promise,”  the soft whisper of the Lord of Dreams was unmistakeable in her mind; she trembled, drew a breath, and kept singing.

The sweet lullabye flowed as if she had always known it. She opened her eyes wide, amazed at this experience. There she saw the butterfly, beckoning her to follow. Without hesitation, that was exactly what she did, singing as she swayed to and fro on the very breeze, becoming the butterfly.

Sunlight streamed into her eyes, waking her. She smiled, sorry to leave the dream, but  filled with hope and wrapped with inspiration. Quickly grabbing a quill and paper, she wrote the lyrics which lingered yet in her mind.

She knew this would make the perfect addition to her repertoire, which was growing a lot this week.
