Ostinato

(8 Eorgaen 5114: The Landing)

The storm outside provided a percussive undertone, and the mandolin started out with a simple melody. She loved what she heard, and hummed it the second time through. Intuition filled the unique chord progression in for her over the next several iterations through the theme.

With the theme of the song laid out, she smile and whispered something near her mandolin. Closing her eyes, her fingers practically caressed the instrument as she coaxed the tender melody out that started the song. When it came time to repeat it again, the mandolin led both the melody and an individually picked chord progression.

Picking the mandolin only with basic rocking arpeggios of the chord progression, she took the lead from the instrument and graced it with the melody in full, lingering notes. Successive times through the theme became intimate variations, a window into her heart and soul. Sometimes she was the echo. Sometimes the instrument was. Sometimes she was the descant, sometimes the mandolin provided it. The climax of the song was a soaring height of unbridled rejoicing.

The furniture could see the pure joy on her face. The walls trembled with the passion she laid into the song. The air witnessed the wonder. The breath-taking moment lasted what seemed a very long time.

Opening her eyes, she simply smiled and touched the mandolin. She lived for these moments.
