(4 Jastatos 5114: Wehnimer’s Landing)
Dear Mother & Father,
I am writing to make sure you know I am completely safe and secure at the Landing.
I know you must have heard some of the news about the events and attacks surrounding the Landing. I had my first taste of an assault tonight. But do not fret, as soon as the airships were sighted, I was spirited to safety. There he stayed with me to make sure no harm came to me while the more experienced defenders of the city went to their stations.
It was amazing listening to the coordinating teams’ thoughts as they took out the attacking airships while they were still in the surrounding areas. They were so successful that no enemy forces got past the city walls at all. The Landing’s many teams worked together like a fine concerto. It was a brilliant defense victory.
I do not understand the politics or the reasons this is happening, but will try to learn that, and write to give you a first hand view. I know how that will interest you, Father.
The Bard guild has given me my 7th promotion, and I am working hard on several tasks to assure my Apprenticeship with Lord Japhrimel.
It has been a long day, and I am weary. I miss you so much.

She folds the paper into an envelope and carefully addresses it, sealing it with green wax. Changing into her sleeping gown, she raises the window halfway, and goes over to her bedroom door, pausing thoughtfully. She snuffs the candle out and curls up on her bed under a fluffy comforter.
